Our goal is to connect everyone in missions.
That doesn’t mean that everyone has to go into a foreign mission field, rather that we encourage our members to proclaim the Gospel in every facet of their lives. We have many mission projects and partnerships to get involved with, so find one that fits your heart and get involved in sharing the Lord’s love with others.
Agape Way Ministries proclaims and demonstrates the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ, meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of men, women and children who are poor, homeless and needy in downtown Atlanta. Contact: Ashley Mordecai. Details at www.agapewayinc.org.
Capernaum Ministries started in 1986 as an outreach of Young Life to teens and young adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The goal of Capernaum Ministries is to give kids with disabilities the same opportunity to hear the Gospel and experience the gift of life as able-bodied kids. Contact: Jamie Faxon.
First Care Women’s Clinic is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization that helps anyone is a crisis pregnancy regardless of age, race creed, nationality, country, marital status, circumstances of conception or condition of the unborn baby. FCWC helps women and men deal with an unexpected pregnancy by providing practical assistance, as well as physical and emotional support, including sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. MUST (Ministries United in Service and Training) is a non-profit Christian organization that is dedicated to providing services to families and individuals in crisis. MUST addresses the needs of families, individuals and children in the Marietta, Smyrna, and Cherokee/Paulding communities. Eastminster provides dinner on the second Friday of every month to the residents of MUST. To sign up to help, CLICK HERE. Eastminster also supports the Summer Lunch Program, which provides sack lunches to needy children during summer break. This year we made 1,500 sack lunches. Donations can be placed in marked barrels in the narthex and CLC lobby. There are many hungry families and individuals in Cobb County, and the MUST pantries need constant refilling. Please bring canned goods (vegetables, meats, fruits), boxed pasta meals and cereals, baby supplies, diapers, and unopened hygiene items. We cannot accept any perishable items. Youth Mission Trips are sponsored each year, allowing the youth of Eastminster to experience the joy of spreading the gospel and helping those in need. Our youth regularly participate in a local missions — they have delivered sandwiches to the homeless, served meals at MUST and worked in soup kitchens. In addition, once a year they travel to a needy area of the United States or internationally to extend the hand of God and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Beautiful Deliverance is a ministry serving the needy in Welch, West Virginia. Their mission is to provide a pathway of hope by building relationships and reaching out to others with the love of Jesus Christ. Poverty in McDowell County is devastating, leaving many without hope. Daily children go hungry; the elderly must decide whether to pay for food, utilities or medication; unemployment is rampant. Beautiful Deliverance provides hope and direction to those suffering hardship and direction to churches and individuals willing to get involved. Children’s HopeChest in Guatemala is a direct partnership with a local church in Guatemala addressing the poverty and injustice in their local community. The church focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty by providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the children and transforming their families and community through them, all while bringing them into personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Kenyan Orphanages. Eastminster regularly supports and sends mission teams to three children’s homes (details below). We also host a child sponsorship program supporting children at these homes.
— Kenya Connection Kids. Led by Humphrey Kanga and sponsored by Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, this ministry is dedicated to supporting Kenyan orphans. Kenya Connection supports two residences, which are home to 29 children. In addition to the homes, 146 orphans are served in the field. Eastminster families support more than 42 orphans. The sponsors provide monthly donations enabling these children to have adequate food and clothing as well as access to an education. — Tumaini and Huruma Children’s Homes. Tumaini was founded in 1997 by the Riamukurwe Parish, a cluster of 8 Presbyterian churches in an impoverished rural area of Central Kenya. This Parish decided something needed to be done about the many children who were starving or undernourished in their community, so they began a feeding program. That program grew into a residential orphanage, Tumaini Children’s Home, which now cares for 140 children. The parish also runs the Huruma Children’s Home, a nearby facility that houses 78 children. Recent mission projects have focused on structural improvements to Huruma, including a new irrigation system, as well as the addition of study room and annex to house several disabled adults at the home. Both homes provide food, housing, education and spiritual nurture. They are overseen by a Board which consists of the Riamukurwe Parish minister and elders. In the Carpenter’s Footsteps is a non-profit Christian group founded by Buddy Searcy. Carpenter’s Footsteps provides services to churches and communities who need a construction project built or repaired. In additional to construction work, the team also provides a Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the children in the area and sewing projects for the women. In the Carpenter’s Footsteps arranges is currently working on church building in Costa Rica. Volunteers are needed to share their faith, perform manual labor, help with VBS and help the women sewing. Hizkia Soewignjo (Ambassador’s for Christ Indonesia) spreads the gospel throughout Indonesia. He organizes medical missions that provider much needed medical care to the inhabitants of the Indonesian islands. This ministry faces dangerous situations and travel challenges to reach the various islands in Indonesia.
The Antioch Partners (TAP) is a missionary sending agency that partners with Presbyterian churches in the US to send followers of Jesus to participate in God’s mission in the world. These missionaries have been called by God to long-term, cross-cultural ministry, and they are engaged in many aspects of Kingdom work including: inviting people to follow Jesus, social justice, discipleship, supporting church-planting movements, leadership development and business as mission. We support two Antioch Partner missionaries (names withheld for security) serving in Brazil with Sepal, a nationwide ministry providing resources to local pastors and leaders. Their mission is to help seminary students obtain the education necessary to go out into the world and preach. They also lead music ministries, participate in a partnership with a ministry in Curitiba and minister to the needy and infirm. Details at www.theantiochpartners.org.
China Missionaries. These dedicated missionaries work to bring the grace of Christ to the Chinese people by supporting underground churches, teaching and grooming new Chinese ministers. Names are withheld due to security reasons.
Egypt Missionaries. Through The Outreach Foundation, we also support two full-time professors at Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo Egypt preparing men and women to serve as pastors and leader in Egypt and the Arab world.
